As many of you know, Joyce and I have been taking a vacation this week at Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon National Park (North Rim). We haven’t had a cell phone signal for several days but we discovered a Wi-Fi signal outside the General Store at the North Rim Campground so I’m sending this very short edition as a postcard. It is not that we are so busy with activities that I couldn’t take an hour to write a post. The problem is that my laptop battery will only last for about 10 minutes.

The first leg of our trip was Zion N.P. and my goal was to hike into the Virgin River Narrows for some nice shots. We made it up the narrows in our wading shoes and shorts and hiked through the water for a couple of miles. It was very difficult to capture an image without people in the frame as Zion receives three million visitors a year. As we continued up the slot canyon, the mass of humanity began to thin out and I finally made a decent image. It was a fun hike but boy were my feet sore when we finally made it out.

Please enjoy this image of the Virgin River Narrows. I can’t “Save for Web Devices” because I don’t have Photoshop on my laptop so a few of you might have problems seeing the image on your smart phones.

I can’t wait to show you a few more images from the North Rim, including a Kaibab Squirrel and a Golden Mantled Ground Squirrel. See you soon!

Thanks for looking,

DB

  2. Beautiful place. Too bad so many people know about it and visit.

    • You got that right, Lyle! It is kind of like Wally World with all the shuttles! I’m looking forward to returning in the off-season and going into the “Subway.”

  3. We are prepared to wait patiently 🙂 Enjoy the rest of your holiday, and the birding workshop as well…

  4. This looks like a painting, Danny. Very beautiful! Glad you are enjoying your trip.

  5. Hi Danny, and Joyce. I loved the shot of the North Rim of Zion National Park. This is truly the Hand of God. What a breathtaking photo. I’ll bet you had a great time in this area. Thanks for sharing.

    • You are welcome Art. Wait until you see the bobwhite quail shots I got this morning here at the farm. Wow!
